Managed System Administration is strongly recommended for all dedicated server and colocation clients.

Because we realize no two businesses are exactly alike, Primus has developed flexible monthly support plans that allow you to customize your server administration tasks to fit your specific administrative and budgetary requirements. Our expert Managed Services team will work closely with you to develop a server administration solution to handle routine administrative tasks, such as tape backups to more complex administrative tasks, such as application specific configuration.

Worried about security on your server? Primus' experienced system administrators will keep your server(s) fully up-to-date with all of the relevant security patches for your environment. Server security is a growing concern for most companies but staying on top of industry security information is a time consuming and challenging task. Fortunately, Primus has invested considerable resources in network security and established server security monitoring protocols that ensure rapid response to security issues. Requirements:

  • Primus' system administrators will require "Administrator" or "Root" access to your server(s)
  • For Unix servers, Primus requires the server(s) to be running SSH for remote access
  • For Windows servers, Primus requests that the servers be running "Remote Desktop" (terminal service) or "pcAnywhere" for remote access
  • For Windows servers, Primus recommends that the servers be running anti-virus software
  • Customer must provide Primus with at least 3 one-hour maintenance window periods (Mon-Fri, 7 am-6 pm) for system maintenance that does not impact server uptime
  • Customer must provide Primus with at least 3 offline one-hour maintenance window periods (Tues,Thurs, Sun, 2 am-7 am) for system maintenance during which the server(s) may be taken offline for patches, upgrades, etc.
